Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a unique martial arts system that focuses primarily on grappling techniques where one learns to subdue an adversary through immobilization, chokes or joint locks. It is a highly effective self-defense system suitable for everyone, including children as young as 4 years old, as well as individuals well into their retirement. It is highly adaptable for all body types, physical attributes and limitations, and has lower risk of injury due to its ground work nature.

For the more athletically inclined, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can also be a highly competitive sport, with regional, national and international competitions. Even beginners can partake in competitions after a few months of training, however, it is not compulsory. Anyone can participate in these events only when they feel ready.

Also known as the art of 8 limbs, Muay Thai, or Thai boxing, is the martial art that focuses primarily on striking techniques. It is a highly effective martial art system that focuses on a more direct approach to punching, kicking as well as the use of elbows and knees in close range. Muay Thai practitioners are well recognized as some of the toughest and most well conditioned athletes in professional combat sport. Whether the prospective student is interested in exercise, self-defence, or competitive sparring, the class curriculum is adapted to each.

Each program is adapted to each person’s goals and performed in a group setting under the supervision and guidance of a qualified professional Osteopath and strength coach.

The Sport Etude program allows students to train at a higher frequency to achieve athletic excellence while maintaining a good academic standing. We offer classes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, 5 days a week, in the afternoon, for students who are part of this program at their school. This allows them to learn the fundamentals, the techniques, the reasons behind each move, as well as repeat drills in order to fully grasp all the details and work endurance, strength and coordination.
